Department of Homeland Security Reopens Global Entry Enrollment Centers
June 29, 2020 | United States of America
On July 6, 2020, the Department of Homeland Security will reopen enrollment centers for the Global Entry program following a COVID-19 shutdown.
Enrollment centers have been closed since March 19th in response to the COVID-19 National Emergency. Starting July 6th, applicants can complete in-person interviews at a Trusted Traveler Program enrollment center for conditionally approved SENTRI, Global Entry, and U.S.-Mexico FAST applications.
Certain precautions will remain in place for visitors to reduce the risk of disease transmission during the in-person interview process. Interviews must be scheduled in advance online, and the number of appointments available will be limited. All applicants and employees at the enrollment center must always wear face masks. Sign-in sheets and touch points will be eliminated. Waiting areas will have reduced seating, and plexiglass barriers will be installed at all service counters. Other social distancing measures will be in place for visitors according to CDC guidelines. Applicants must still provide fingerprints to complete the enrollment process.
While some in-person appointments are now available, in-person interviews for some applications, including U.S.-Canada FAST and Nexus, will remain suspended through August 10th.
