Phone and In-Person Consultations Temporarily Discontinued; Criteria for Entrepreneurs’ Act Applications to be Clarified
October 30, 2018 | Spain
The Spanish immigration authorities have announced that both the Large Companies Unit and the General Subdirectorate of Immigration have temporarily discontinued telephone and in-person consultations while immigration officials develop clear criteria for adjudication of applications filed under the Entrepreneurs’ Act.
A lack of clarity about how to interpret the Entrepreneurs’ Act and adjudicate applications in the absence of implementing regulations has led to processing delays and an increase in application denials. This in turn has led to an increase in sponsor complaints and queries. Immigration authorities hope that the development and publication of firm criteria for adjudicating applications under the Act will speed processing and reduce complaints.
