Tuberculosis Screening to be Mandatory for Certain Foreign Nationals
June 29, 2020 | Japan
Starting July 1st, tuberculosis screening will be required for certain foreign nationals applying for a Japanese visa or a Certificate of Eligibility.
Tuberculosis screening requirements will generally apply to foreign nationals who have passports from China, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, Vietnam, and the Philippines. However, holders of passports from these countries who do not reside in their country of nationality are exempt from the tuberculosis screening requirement.
Impacted foreign nationals who do not provide a tuberculosis certificate confirming that they are illness-free will not have their Japanese visa or Certificate of Eligibility applications approved.
