USCIS is Reusing Biometrics for Employment Authorization Extension Requests

April 13, 2020 | United States of America

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 National Emergency, USCIS is reusing previously submitted biometrics to process employment authorization extension requests until its Application Support Centers (ASCs) reopen.

USCIS is automatically reusing biometrics for individuals who had an appointment scheduled at an ASC on or after March 18, 2020, which is when USCIS closed all ASC offices over coronavirus concerns. The agency will also reuse biometrics for individuals who have filed for an I-765 extension. USCIS will continue reusing biometrics until its ASC offices reopen for regular appointments.
